Joint Task Force Harvey - Bronze Antique

Hurricane Harvey unleashed his fury on the Texas coast on August 25th, when it hit the town of Rockport. Then it dropped up to 51 inches of rain in the greater Houston area, causing catastrophic flooding, destroying entire neighborhoods and stranding tens of thousands in homes, shelters and hospitals. It then went out over the Gulf of Mexico, gathering more strength before it hit Louisiana on August 29th. Harvey is the wettest tropical hurricane on record in the contiguous United States. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands of homes, displaced more than 30,000 people, prompted more than 17,000 rescues and caused close to 100 deaths.

To support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and to celebrate and thank all those who helped the victims in need, we have created this coin. The obverse features scenes from the Houston area, and the reverse has the seals of the departments involved in assisting with the hurricane efforts. We will donate $5 for every coin purchased directly to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. This is an antique bronze coin, packaged in a capsule and featuring the US flag, the Texas flag and the Louisiana flag.
